KICKR Rental Terms
These Rental Terms apply specifically to equipment rented from Pain Cave Rentals and should be read together with our Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and the individual rental agreement provided to you. By reserving or renting equipment from Pain Cave Rentals, you agree to comply with these Rental Terms and the terms of your rental agreement.
1. RENTAL EQUIPMENT
Pain Cave Rentals currently offers indoor smart trainers for monthly rental, including Wahoo KICKR equipment. Equipment availability may vary depending on stock. The equipment supplied will be confirmed before delivery and may be subject to availability at the time of your reservation.
2. MONTHLY RENTAL
Our standard rental arrangement is month-to-month unless a different rental period is specifically agreed in writing. The current advertised rental price for the Wahoo KICKR Core is R450 per month, subject to the applicable product configuration, delivery arrangements, and any optional charges. Rental pricing may change for future rentals, but the price applicable to an existing rental will be managed according to the terms of the rental agreement.
3. RENTAL START DATE
The rental period begins on the date confirmed by Pain Cave Rentals in connection with the delivery and setup of the equipment. The applicable rental start date and first payment will be confirmed as part of the rental process. Equipment is not considered rented or reserved indefinitely simply because an enquiry or reservation request has been submitted.
4. MONTHLY PAYMENTS
Rental payments are charged monthly using the agreed payment method. Where recurring payments are enabled, you authorise the applicable payment provider to process the agreed monthly rental amount for the duration of your rental. Any additional agreed charges, optional equipment charges, delivery charges, or other applicable amounts will be communicated before they are charged where reasonably possible.
5. DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT AUTHORISATION
A refundable deposit or payment card authorisation may be required before equipment is delivered. The purpose of the deposit or card authorisation is to provide reasonable protection against loss, theft, damage, non-return, unpaid charges, or other amounts for which the customer may be responsible under the rental agreement. The amount, method, release conditions, and any applicable deductions will be confirmed before or during the rental process.
6. ID AND PROOF OF ADDRESS
Customers may be required to provide valid identification and proof of address before a rental can be approved and equipment delivered. This verification is used to confirm the customer’s identity and address, protect rental equipment, reduce fraud, and support the administration of the rental agreement. Pain Cave Rentals may decline or delay a rental where the required verification information has not been provided or cannot reasonably be verified.
7. CUSTOMER AND BICYCLE INFORMATION
Customers are responsible for providing accurate information about their bicycle and drivetrain before delivery. This may include the bicycle type, drivetrain, number of speeds, cassette requirements, axle type, and other compatibility information. Providing incorrect information may result in additional fitting requirements, delivery delays, or additional costs where equipment needs to be changed or reconfigured.
8. CASSETTE AND ZWIFT COG OPTIONS
The available KICKR rental setup may include a cassette matched to the customer’s bicycle or a Zwift Cog configuration. Customers must select the appropriate option during the rental process or provide the required information to Pain Cave Rentals. Where a Zwift Cog carries an additional monthly charge, that charge will be communicated and added to the applicable rental price. The availability of specific cassette configurations may depend on current stock.
9. DELIVERY AND FITTING
Where delivery and fitting are included in the agreed rental arrangement, Pain Cave Rentals or its delivery partner will arrange a suitable delivery time with the customer. The equipment will be delivered to the agreed address and, where applicable, fitted or configured according to the customer’s confirmed bicycle information. Delivery and fitting availability may depend on location, scheduling, equipment availability, and other practical considerations.
10. DELIVERY AREA
Pain Cave Rentals initially operates within the Johannesburg metropolitan area. Delivery availability outside the normal service area may be considered on request and may be subject to additional delivery charges or specific arrangements. A delivery request does not guarantee that delivery can be provided to every location.
11. DELIVERY AND COLLECTION ACCESS
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the delivery and collection address is accurate and accessible at the agreed time. If a delivery or collection cannot be completed because the customer is unavailable, the address is incorrect, access is unavailable, or other circumstances prevent completion, an additional delivery or collection charge may apply where reasonably incurred.
12. EQUIPMENT CONDITION
Equipment supplied by Pain Cave Rentals may be previously rented or professionally used equipment. Equipment will be inspected, serviced, and tested as reasonably appropriate before being supplied to a customer. Normal signs of previous use do not necessarily constitute a defect or damage. The customer should report any significant issue, missing component, or apparent damage as soon as reasonably possible after receiving the equipment.
13. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT
The customer is responsible for taking reasonable care of the equipment throughout the rental period. The equipment must be used only for its intended purpose and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and any instructions provided by Pain Cave Rentals. Customers must not intentionally modify, dismantle, repair, tamper with, or alter the equipment without prior approval.
14. DAMAGE, LOSS AND THEFT
The customer may be responsible for reasonable costs resulting from damage, loss, theft, misuse, unauthorised modification, or failure to return the equipment in the condition reasonably expected after normal use. Normal wear and tear arising from proper use is not intended to be treated as customer damage. Where damage or loss occurs, Pain Cave Rentals may assess the equipment and determine the reasonable cost of repair, replacement, missing components, or other associated costs in accordance with the rental agreement and applicable law.
15. EQUIPMENT MALFUNCTIONS
If the equipment develops a technical problem during the rental period, the customer should contact Pain Cave Rentals before attempting any repair or modification. We may provide troubleshooting instructions, arrange inspection, repair, replacement, or another appropriate solution depending on the nature of the issue. Customers should not attempt repairs that could cause further damage or affect warranty, serviceability, or safety.
16. MANUFACTURER SOFTWARE AND TRAINING PLATFORMS
Smart trainers may require software, firmware, Bluetooth, ANT+, compatible devices, or third-party training platforms such as Zwift, TrainerRoad, or Rouvy. Customers are responsible for maintaining their own compatible device, internet connection, accounts, subscriptions, and third-party services. Pain Cave Rentals does not provide or include subscriptions to third-party training platforms unless expressly stated.
17. CUSTOMER’S BIKE AND PERSONAL EQUIPMENT
The customer remains responsible for their bicycle and any personal equipment used with the trainer. Pain Cave Rentals will take reasonable care when fitting equipment, but customers should ensure that their bicycle is in suitable condition and compatible with the supplied trainer configuration. Pain Cave Rentals is not responsible for pre-existing bicycle defects, incorrect bicycle maintenance, or damage caused by information or compatibility details incorrectly supplied by the customer.
18. CANCELLATION
Because the rental arrangement is intended to operate on a month-to-month basis, customers may request cancellation in accordance with the notice period specified in their rental agreement. The standard arrangement may require one month’s notice, but the applicable notice period will be confirmed in the customer’s rental agreement. Cancellation does not remove amounts already due or other obligations arising before the rental ends.
19. ENDING THE RENTAL
At the end of the applicable notice period, the rental will end and arrangements will be made for the equipment to be collected or returned. The customer must keep the equipment safe and available until collection or return has been completed. The rental remains the customer’s responsibility until the equipment has been received and accepted by Pain Cave Rentals or its authorised collection provider, subject to the applicable rental agreement.
20. COLLECTION AND RETURN
Pain Cave Rentals will arrange collection or provide return instructions where applicable. The equipment should be returned with all components, accessories, cables, power supplies, and other items supplied as part of the rental. Missing items, damage beyond reasonable wear and tear, or other issues identified during the return inspection may result in charges where permitted under the rental agreement.
21. LATE RETURNS
Equipment must remain available for collection or be returned according to the agreed arrangements. If equipment is not returned or made available for collection after the rental has ended, additional rental charges or other reasonable costs may apply until the equipment is recovered, subject to the applicable rental agreement and law.
22. FAILURE TO PAY
If a scheduled rental payment fails, is reversed, or remains unpaid, Pain Cave Rentals may contact the customer to arrange payment. Where permitted under the rental agreement and applicable law, continued non-payment may result in suspension or termination of the rental and recovery of the equipment. Reasonable costs associated with unpaid amounts or recovery may be charged where legally permitted.
23. TERMINATION BY PAIN CAVE RENTALS
Pain Cave Rentals may terminate a rental where the customer materially breaches the rental agreement, fails to make required payments, provides materially false information, misuses the equipment, fails to return equipment, or where termination is otherwise permitted by the rental agreement or applicable law. Where appropriate, the customer will be given reasonable notice or an opportunity to remedy the issue before termination.
24. REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT
Where a refundable deposit has been paid, it will normally be considered for release after the rental has ended, the equipment has been returned or collected, and the equipment has been inspected. Any permitted deductions for outstanding rental amounts, damage, loss, missing components, or other amounts properly owed under the rental agreement may be deducted before the remaining deposit is returned. The applicable deposit arrangements will be confirmed before the rental begins.
25. CARD HOLDS AND AUTHORISATIONS
Where a payment card pre-authorisation or similar security arrangement is used instead of, or in addition to, a cash deposit, the applicable payment provider’s rules will apply to the authorisation. A card authorisation may be used to secure amounts that become properly payable under the rental agreement, subject to the payment provider’s capabilities and applicable law. Pain Cave Rentals does not control the processing time required by a bank or payment provider to release an authorisation.
26. SAFETY AND PROPER USE
Customers must use the trainer and related equipment responsibly and in accordance with manufacturer instructions. The equipment should be installed on a suitable, stable surface and used in an appropriate indoor environment. Customers should stop using equipment if they identify a safety issue, unusual noise, visible damage, electrical problem, or other condition that could make continued use unsafe and should contact Pain Cave Rentals for assistance.
27. LIABILITY
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Pain Cave Rentals is not responsible for loss or damage resulting from improper use of the equipment, failure to follow manufacturer or fitting instructions, unauthorised modifications, incorrect bicycle information supplied by the customer, use of incompatible equipment, or circumstances outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these Rental Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation would be unlawful or would remove rights that cannot legally be excluded.
28. CHANGES TO RENTAL TERMS
These Rental Terms may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to our rental services, equipment, payment arrangements, delivery process, or legal requirements. The version applicable to an existing rental will be determined in accordance with the customer’s rental agreement and applicable law. Updated terms will be published on this website with a revised “Last Updated” date.
